Alerts

Conditions, recipients, and when an email is actually sent.

Email when a condition is met.

What an alert is#

A condition, a window, and a recipient list. Recipients are the members who have opted in to that kind of notification: not everyone in the workspace.

When an email actually goes out#

Periodic work runs inside the application process, with each run claimed by exactly one process. Which means:

  • Alerts are evaluated on a cadence, not the instant a visit arrives
  • Running several copies of the application does not send duplicate email

When the server has no SMTP configured, the system answers not configured rather than pretending to have sent. An alert that reports "sent" with no mail leaving the server is the worst way this feature can fail.

The weekly digest#

A periodic email summarising the week. Same recipient rule: only people who opted in.

Quota notices#

A separate email as usage approaches your plan's limit. Quotas enforce nothing. See Plan and usage.
