Overview

KPIs, the series chart, the map, and what they count.

This screen answers one question: is anything unusual today?

The KPI row#

Total visits, distinct visitors, and the split by verdict over the selected period, compared with the period immediately before it.

Visits and visitors are different numbers, and the gap between them says something on its own: ten thousand visits from three visitors is not ten thousand visits from nine thousand.

The series chart#

Visits by hour, day or month. You choose the granularity, but the server may coarsen it over a long range, the chart says which granularity it actually drew, rather than changing quietly.

The comparison line is the same length of period, immediately before.

The map#

Visits placed by the geography inferred from the IP address.

"No coordinates" and "the frame has not been measured yet" are different states on the map. A visit with no location is not placed in the middle of an ocean.

Map tiles are served through our own server rather than straight from a third-party provider. On some filtering DNS resolvers the tile host does not resolve, and the map goes blank before the page can catch anything.

What is waiting on a person#

The number of challenge visits in the period, the ones the engine could not settle alone. This is usually the first place worth looking.

Limits#

One aggregate read scans at most 50,000 visits. Past that the screen says it was truncated rather than drawing a smaller number without comment.
